Reading v Cardiff City 02.01.06

The first game of the new year was at home to Cardiff City.

In an impressive display from the Royals, Dave Jones' Bluebirds were thumped 5-1. With goals from Steve Sidwell 32 71, Ibrahima Sonko 32, Dave Kitson 51 76, Cardiff proved no match for a rampant Reading side keen to restore, with Sheffield Utd losing what turned out to be a 10 point, advantage at the top of the table.
